Sculpture

Frustum

This earthen mound, a truncated cone or frustum, was inspired by my travels to Japan in 1982 and built with the extra top soil on a building site in 2002.

It was originally conceived as a sculptural form, but has since served to inspire my work on developing interactive earth forms for kids on school playgrounds. Refer to the video link on this web site for the climbing mounds at the Central School in South Berwick.

It may be sculpture, but kids love to play and climb on this particular earthwork.
